African food is not something you find all that often and this is fantastic. Excellent food overall and the starter specifically was world class. Very friendly service too and a good location.

A friend and I went to “Messob”. We had a great time. Ethiopian cuisine is truly delicious and cheers. they made us feel at home and were very prepared in explaining their typical dishes. Very nice the owner who regularly asks as a true professional if we liked his dish. Wonderful evening, we hope to be back soon. Recommended!!

For those who have read my reviews in the past here I wanted to update. Small group (5 people) for dinner on a WED evening (JAN 2020). No very crowded, we were greeted at the door and shown to a table. What I want to comment on Has a change in ownership made any impact on the overall restaurant? The simple answer is no. Sometime last summer (JUN/JUL 2019) the original owner, sold the business to a new person. Wife and I ate here in late MAY during the transition period of ownership. This visit (JAN 2020) was the first visit since last summer as I have had fewer trips to Uppsala during this time. Our party included 3 Americans, 1 local, and 1 Indian. 2 of us had eaten here in the past and are the ones that order the vegan platter. The others all ordered the meat platter none of them had eaten at a Ethiopian restaurant before. Everyone ordered a mix of items. Of the group the favorite meat items was the chicken and for the vegan was the spinach. What I can say is the service, and especially the food quality has not changed and remains a very good value. The transition to a new owner is a success, glad to see this as I am looking forward to another visit next month.

We visited the Messob for a dinner. It was our first time to try Ethiopian cuisine which is becoming pretty trendy. It is a bit difficult to know what to order , but the staff members here are super friendly and are very happy to recommend whatever they think will suit your particular taste. Basically ideal is to take two meat and two vegetarian dishes which are served on a traditional pancake. The meat was spicy and yummy as well as the vegetarian dishes recommended by our waiter, the wine was good too. I really became a fan of this restaurant and the Ethiopian cuisine.
