Maln Hav Krog - Hudiksvall

As always, a disappointment in Hälsingland. The old beach restaurant on Malnic Beach in front of Hudiksvall was a disaster, and we had high hopes for its acquisition and restart. Unfortunately, the outcome did not meet our expectations. The new owners are trying to present it as a fine dining establishment, but they fall short. The menu is uninteresting and standard, and the food does not meet expectations. Our first dish, a steak in red wine sauce, was cooked to medium but was decent and standard. It was not very exciting. Our second dish, a fish cocotte, was wrapped in aluminum foil and lacked flavor. The fish was overcooked and bland. Our third dish, a burger, was overly large and made from dry, flavorless minced meat. The problem with this restaurant is that it is trying too hard. Instead of striving for a high-end dining experience, it should focus on becoming a laid-back beach club serving basic but high-quality food. I have been to many basic beach restaurants in France and Italy that offer much better food without the pretentiousness (see my review of Mu.Ma Beach Restaurant in Olbia here on TripAdvisor). The staff seemed confused and inexperienced, which did not improve our experience. The restroom facilities were also subpar. Will we return? Perhaps, but not eagerly.

Unfortunately, we were not very happy with our dining experience. There were only seafood options for appetizers, and when we asked if there were other options available, we were told that there were not. We were disappointed until we saw other customers enjoying a Charcuterie board. The hamburger we ordered had bland and gray-tasting frozen meat. The only redeeming factor was the tasty fries. The service also varied throughout the evening.

The pictures may not be great, but the service is exceptional at this restaurant. The entertainment featuring Beach and Hermansson is top-notch, especially the Wednesday quiz which is of high calibre. The establishment has recently set up a mill so that there is something for everyone, including ice cream, a bar, a kitchen, and sausages for visitors. The food was really delicious. I highly recommend this place.
