Locanda Prato'dera - VOLTERRA

We all dream about stumbling upon the amazing restaurant, away from the tourist throngs that serves up exquisite food fatta alla casa (everything made in house) in an idyllic rural setting. Locanda Prato d 'Era is that place. We were on a 10k hike from Volterra and this place was recommended as a good lunch stop. After a hot morning of walking, we wandered into what looks like a rural house with tables and chairs under umbrellas. We ordered beer as we still had a long walk back. A few of our requests were not available but we all ordered a pasta dish. Until you have eaten freshly made pasta, you won 't know what the fuss is all about. It is delightful. My dish was tortellini (similar to ravioli) with a meat sauce. It was superb and at €10 it was a bargain. Finished with a panna cotta with a strawberry coulis. Also superb. My friends all had an affogato which neatly took care of dessert and coffee. I would love to come back here for a full leisurely dinner as it is the perfect antithesis to the mediocre tourist restaurants that you find all too often. Unfortunately that will have to wait for the next trip as we leave tomorrow. If you are planning a visit to Volterra (and you should) this place should be on your must do list . It 's about 5km from the town. Highly recommended!!

Guys, this place is the best in town! It’s simply the best. Enjoy the pizzas and the frutti di mare misti, order prosecco from the tap and have fun.... Here you get your wishes come true enjoy and feel very eell supported!!!

Abbiamo mangiato in questa pizzeria nella campagna di Volterra, lungo la strada che va verso Pontedera. Il locale è stato rinnovato, il servizio è cortese e la pizza è davvero buona.

If you look for something fancy, this is not the place. If you look for good unpretentious food, you're good here. Good food, good prices.

Ich kann diese Rente nur empfehlen. es befindet sich in einer ruhigen, hydillianischen Lage der toskanischen Landschaft. die Preise sind sehr, sehr billig, mein Zimmer war sehr sauber und gut gepflegt. Ich habe es gerne dort gegessen, weil die Küche sehr authentisch und lecker ist. Der Besitzer ist immer zu meinem Wunsch gekommen, ich fühlte mich wie zu Hause! Tolle Atmosphäre, köstliche Gerichte, gemütliche Zimmer, freundliches Personal. Was können Sie für mehr wünschen? Ich komme wieder mit Sicherheit, nächstes Mal mit meiner Familie.
