Deluxe French Fries - Truro

Since the dining room was closed at 6:34pm on a Saturday, I was forced to use the drive-thru. When I pulled up, the server was quick to ask what my order was and since i was unfamiliar with the menu I blurted out 3 piece fish and chips with a fountain pop thinking it had to be less expensive than a sit-down restaurant. In retrospect, I should have asked for more time because I was wrong. When she said $25.63 I asked if she rang it in correctly. Apparently so. At this price for fast food, it should be great. Right? It was not. The fries were ok but the 3 very small pieces of fish should have been thrown back. Super crispy and greasy on the outside while still having gooey batter on the inside. Since the fish itself was bland and not firm at all, it was hard to tell the fish from the glue-batter. This will be my last visit because I know Truro has great fish and chips at local restaurants where I can just ask for take-out.

The English style fish batter is better than any other batter. Many coleslaw are just vinegar, this one is very creamy. I come from Halifax just to eat here.

Finally stopped here and I should have kept going. I just had a two piece London style fish and chips. Coleslaw was too sweet. Like dessert? Fish was not cooked enough the batter was still raw inside. Fries were decent. Hubby had a burger it was mediocre.

My husband has always loved eating at Deluxe, but I wasn't sold on it until now. The lobster roll was delicious served on a perfectly toasted hot dog bun. Buster burger platter is my husband's go to meal every time. Their french fries remind me of canteen fries of my youth; the kind that are best eaten loaded with salt and vinegar! Dining room closed due to Covid but we ate at a picnic table on the grounds while enjoying the beautiful weather.

This place has a good food, there many options! the fish and fish is very good. Also it is in good location.
