Taj Mahal Indian - Torridge

Decided to try the Taj Mahal instead of our usual Indian this weekend, only because we were passing. And I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Phoned the order through and was ready within 40 minutes (Saturday night). Really tasty, and still hot when we got home.

Excellent service from a lovely guy. Food arrived quickly and was just as we ordered. Washed down with a cool Cobra beer. Prices are very reasonable, give it a try

I waited 2 hours for my delivery I tried to call but they weren’t answering their phones half my order was missing and the food was cold again tried to call to get the rest of my order that I had paid for but they never answered the phone! Absolutely disgusting service!

Our usual local curry house is closed this weekend and so we thought that we would try somewhere else, we had a takeaway from the Raj a few years ago and it was okayish so we thought we’d take this opportunity to try again. The Raj opens at 5pm, we ordered at 5.15pm via Just Eat. It gave a provisional delivery time of 6.45pm but we had to wait for a confirmation of a delivery time. At 6.05pm we received notification via text that the order was cancelled, no reason, just cancelled. If we had been cancelled at 5.15pm when we ordered then fine, but to have to wait 50mins to be told it wasn’t coming really isn’t on. We order a curry at least twice a month, the Raj has misssed an opportunity to impress.

I have never had such a terrible experience with naan before. We ordered Peshwari naan, but it had no filling and lacked any sweetness. The onion bhaji were overcooked and tasted nothing like onion. The biryani was mediocre, with dry and barely acceptable meat. The vegetable curry was more of a sauce than a curry, lacking any substantial vegetable chunks. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
