Bidra med feedbackIf you don't mind the long queue during the happy hour and the sometimes not so friendly service staff, the place, the food, the sushi, the oysters, the beer and the cocktails are awesome. The oysters get sold out quickly, so go early, but if you don't mind not eating the oysters, go after happy hour.
This is my second time here and I love the quality of the food here. The foie gras and beef don and the chirashi don is to die for. Very tasty! The service is attentive. A shame there were no oysters in the day time. The cake was really rich and full flavored too. One cake is enough for 2 people methinks. We had a Wham fries which has marshmallows but it got soggy really quickly. Love the decor and high ceilings. Sitting outside can be pretty warm.
I feel standards here have been maintained through the years. Both our salmon and beef bowls were reliably tasty with fresh and well cooked proteins. What makes theirs different is the rice not your standard sushi rice but I believe it's mixed with furikake. Also love the pickles. Prices have of course increased through the years though.
It was my wife's birthday, and I wanted something special for her. And I was most impressed by Tanuki Raw, Orchard Central's outlet's exceptional service and ambience. The staff was efficient, and very attentive as what is expected from a top notch establishment. My hats off to Simon and Celine for making the experience a truly memorable one for my wife and me. I will definitely be visiting more often in the future and will bring my friends along for the Happy Hours. Keep up the great work! And will be seeing them more in the future. Derek
Have tried Tanuki Raw at their other outlets. First time here at their Orchard Central Branch. Glad that I made a reservation early as there was a long Q while I arrived at 6.30pm. Was assigned a table indoors but i requested for outdoor table instead. Nice that they do have table outdoors. This restaurant is situated on the 4th floor overlooking Orchard Road below. But the railing was a bit too high to get a good look of the street below. 5pm to 8pm is their happy hour and there are many drinks offer. With a drink, you can order oysters at $2 each, 5 pieces of salmon for $7, salmon lobster mentaiko bao at $5 and uni, which unfortunately was out of stock. Ordered their Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku Donburi, Salmon Kaisen Donburi and Garlic Butter Chicken Donburi. Truffle Fries Foie Gras was very nice with slight char taste but the black angus short rib was a bit too dry. Overall was okay. Salmon Kaisen Donburi was quite standard and serving was not very big. Garlic Butter Chicken Donburi was unique in taste and very fragrance because of the garlic. Had 2 servings of Salmon Lobster Mentaiko sauce baos and also some oysters. Total bill came up to $177 for 3 pax. Quite expensive in my opinion. Service was okay and staff were generally polite and prompt. Will I go back again? Maybe for the happy hour drinks and some oysters and fries..
