Vitor's - Santa Cruz

We decided to eat here after reading reviews on TA. Turned up Tuesday and it was closed for no reason so went back Wednesday. The service was good and the food tasty enough but the menu was very limited and when we ordered cod the waiter said, sorry forgot to tell you we have none. Would go back if the menu was more varied, mainly fish

Totally home place and it gives a nice atmosphere. Food was so tasty, quite big portions. Nice scabbardfish with onion, very interesting dish.

From the outside easily mistaken for just another bar over a supermarket in the main street so not a sophisticated place. That said it's clearly popular with locals and the standard of food is excellent . The house cod was outstanding and with reasonable wine at 2 euros a glass worth a visit.

My boyfriend and I visited Madeira, stayed in Dom Pedro Garajau, and dinner we ate at Vitor's 5 times . There were many local people so we went there and it was fantastic. Menu isn't very big, but it serves all you need- sea food, chicken, pork. We ate chicken and pork in different variation, every time it was super delicious. The staff speaks english very well and they are so friendly. And there you can get the best sangria. 2 nights they were closed so we ate at different places around and it was awful, so don't go anywhere, but to Vitor's . and prices are great we ate each one portion when we were very hungry, but normaly one portion for two people who don't eat much 6-12 euros.
