L'auberge Des Balcons

Family meal out on the day off for our chalet hosts, which may have led to the restaurant being extremely busy, which in turn led to some disappointing service. The order for our table came in parts, with some of our party waiting 25 minutes for a drink, others received their drinks in 5 minutes. The food was similar, with some of the party waiting far longer than others. That said, the food was quite good. Filet de Bouef was very good, as were the pasta dishes. The kids had steak hache which was a bit overdone on top, but my youngest enjoyed his chips. Deserts were nice, but again only served at the point we were considering asking the staff to cancel them. Similarly, the bill took forever to arrive and there seemed a great deal of confusion. Maybe an off day, and maybe more challenging as the restaurant was full, the food was good, but the uncertainty as to when our orders would show up was a bit disappointing

It's been a few years since we visited this restaurant and it was a very different experience. I wish I'd known that it catered for huge groups as part of a package as I wanted a relaxing dining experience. It was noisy and chaotic and the large groups (including loads of kids were entitled and constantly complaining to the waiting staff which made for a tense atmosphere and stressed out staff. Our waitress was very nice to us and tried to keep a smile on her face so one mark for that. My husband enjoyed his food so one mark for that. Mine was edible but very beige and the atmosphere really spoilt my enjoyment. The thing that left the worst taste in my mouth was when I went to pay (with generous tip for our waitress, the lady behind the bar just patted a tray for me to put the money down and turned her back and gave no eye contact or a thank you. I found this so rude that I would not give the restaurant another chance.

Very good dinner at the balcony hostel! we feel that the products are very fresh and are really excellent. The fondue is delicious! The service is very fast (maybe a little too much, but it is not very bad) despite a full room. a good address for a friendly dinner!

A very good time! staff is really very patient and attentive. food is top. special mention to the cod fondue, a slaughter!

The restaurant is perfect, the decor is top. We ate 3 dinners, all were very good, generous and generous. the staff is super, dynamic and pleasant. I recommend and I'll be back next year.
