Smoke Monkey Bbq - Rockwall

Cool spot, looked great for live music and such. Unfortunately the food did not match. Brisket was very dry( if I had to guess it was yesterdays brisket). Sides were not good, soy sauce doesn?t belong in green beans and the mashed potatoes werestale. Potato salad was average. Rolls were good. I will not be returning. Waste of money

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally made the 40 min drive. I am a BBQ junky and want to experience everything. Upon arrival I found that this was not your typical bbq joint! Friday and Saturday they have a buffet set up with anabundance of non traditional options. So I dove in, and was impressed. Jambalaya, fried shrimp, Mac n cheese, hot chicken;needless to say I was going in! First up the Jambalaya 7/10 I needed a little more umpf, it's such a rarity to fond outside ofa Cajun joint that it really needs to stand out. However!!! The ingredients were legit! Large chunks of shrimp and sausage,whole okra, I feel with a little fire it would have been a hitter. Fried shrimp was good, needed to flavor up that batter alittle, but the shrimp size was excellent and had great texture. 8/10 Mac n Cheese was a solid side for sure, perfectly creamy,noodles held up well, seasoning was strong and even held up after getting cold. (I sat outside) HOT CHICKEN.... I took issuewith it, I tried it, I liked it. I would call it a spicy honey chicken personally. It missed a crunch that a Nashville Hot hasbut the flavor was very very good. It would have loved a bed of rice and extra sauce to pour on. 8/10 as long as we don't callit Nashville Hot. All in all the night was amazing for a foodie like me, when the scenery is a part of the experience. Thecrawfish shack, the beer barn outside, live music blasting, beautiful evening outside with good solid food made my week. As thekids say, it was a whole vibe. Ps, I can't wait for those hot shrimp Tim, let's do this!

The service here was really excellent for a BBQ joint. The buffet has a large selection of meats, veggies, sides, and even dessert. You can sit inside with the live band or eat outside if the weather is nice. Great place to visit!

Great fun, music, food. Love the stuffed backed potato and the cat fish buffet and peach cobbler- I will be back

This place had mixed reviews on the quality of food, but we took the chance and gave it a try. It was 3 of us, so we tried a little of everything. Everything was good. I was with 2 bbq fans so I feel like they have high standards when it come to bbq. They were a fan. Items we got Brisket, ribs, catfish, pulled pork sandwich. Sides Salad bar was delicious, mac and cheese, corn, green beans, slaw, potato salad. There was plenty of seating, it was kind of dim/dark in the main dinning area and the radio they had kept cutting in and out which I absolutely can't stand. Still gave 5 stars because to me bbq restaurants are about the food. Parking: Gravel parking lot, not sure how it gets when it's a busy day
