Bidra med feedbackVery relaxed atmosphere , it seemed popular with locals , very friendly waitress who was helpful , and nice owner. The wine choice was good and we enjoyed the nibbles it came with. We liked it so much we went both nights we were staying in the village
Sat out on the street glass of beer wife had wine. The pasta was the best and wife's vegi cheese toast thing was the best also. What a lovely setting church in the background. Very good price also wl be back
A fun place to have a drink and they are served with substantial snacks/tapas. Very good value and a great atmosphere. It seems to be the place for locals which I always prefer. They do a small selection of local traditional food which is also good. Open until late and they also have a sunny deck to sit in over the road with a view!
In the middle of the center there is this wine bar with an availability of wines to make envy to the best that also presents some dish to dine (mainly appetizers). besides the wine we have taken good slicers and cheeses. low prices
I visited this bar every day when in Monforte for a glass or sometimes two and one night three ! of wine. You can buy by the glass and there’s a range of red, white and bubbles to choose from. All reasonably priced because, as you’ll discover, they are well chosen. Two things about the wine; firstly I’d never tried Grignolino, an old grape variety that is coming back into fashion. The traditional way is to drink young and fresh rather than a more modern style of ‘oaking’ the wine that then needs some years to integrate; as it is in Bar Barolo drink it young. The Dolcetto was so good I went to the vineyard on the other side of Dogliani and bought it by the case! There are also attempts to ‘age’ Dolcetto which seems wrong to me, young and fresh is what balances it against the ‘big’ wines of the area . This particular wine was once 37th in Wine Spectator’s top 100 wines across the world! I’ll review the producer separately . More important ! is the place itself. It doesn’t look an obvious place to go, a couple of seats on a narrow road in the middle of town, but the women who run the bar are generous, informative, and put together the best bar meals you can hope for. It has a great warm local atmosphere, and the later you go the busier it is. The cheese platter with a confiture and breads took me an hour with that glorious dolcetto to finish. I was like a ‘dog with two tails’! As with the wine their cheese and cured meats if you prefer are very well chosen, all Italian except for a great Comté, I particularly enjoyed the goat cheeses. I wish I’d taken a photo but I guess I was too carried away, but you know what cheese looks like! I cannot rate this place highly enough, don’t pass it by..
