J Towne Tavern - LAKE HOPATCONG

Food is great if a little pricey. Very nice atmosphere. I will only pay cash though from now on. Two of my credit cards were recently copied or cloned with fraudulent transactions coming in on both cards. These fraudulent transactions came in this past Sunday only. The two banks were quick to reach me and shut them off. The only place I used both cards was the J. Towne Tavern. One of those cards had not been used in seven months prior to the J. Towne Tavern charge. This could be a co-incidence but maybe not... Jimmy D. please keep an eagle eye on your staff just in case.

I want to give a shoutout to Cassie, our server. She was fantastic! The food was delicious. The music in the main dining area was a bit loud, so we requested to be seated on the quieter side. The staff was very accommodating.

I went to this restaurant for the first time and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and overall it was a wonderful evening. I can't wait to go back!

The Mother's Day brunch was overbooked and we were seated by the front door, which kept banging loudly. Our seats were in the aisle of the walkway to the brunch food line, so we had to constantly get up and down. The food at the buffet was poorly lit and labeled. Our waiter was excellent, but the hostess wasn't very nice. In her defense, she had to deal with complaining customers because the restaurant was overbooked.

My wife and I went there this past Saturday. We like the atmosphere as it has great energy and the food is good. We weren't disappointed on these two fronts. They also make a good cocktail here. The one issue we had was a bit on the service side. It wasn't bad service, but there is a fine line between attentive service and feeling you re being rushed out the door. This time, we felt we were being rushed. We ordered drinks first and wanted to enjoy them, but were asked 2 or 3 times if we were ready to order. That same approach continued throughout dinner. My recommendation to J.Towne is let your customers relax. I know you need to turn the tables, but it was Saturday night and we wanted a relaxing night out. Second issue was with my wine. I ordered the higher priced glass of Cabernet. The pour seemed a bit light, closer to 3 oz. than to 5 oz. Not sure what your standard is, but at that price I expect a bit more. Despite the issues, I still give J.Towne a good review. We enjoy the food and atmosphere. Certainly will go back, but will watch the service.
