Bidra med feedbackThis place is awful! over priced, flavorless food, the garlic seasoning had almost no salt. The crab was obviously frozen but probably freezer burnt because the texture was stringy and tasteless. Every thing was extra (potatoes, corn, sausage, bread) I've had several seafood boil meals and this is hands down the worst. The calamari was overcooked and a few pieces tasted like they were spoiled or freezer burnt. I paid over $100.00 for two boil bags (one with snow crab one with shrimp) two orders of calamari, one order of biscuits, added corn(one half piece per bag) potatoes and sausage and it was barely edible. Go somewhere else, you will pay less and get better food.
When we arrived a tattooed young man asked if we had 4. I said yes and he walked away and didn’t ask us to follow him so I stayed there because I didn’t want to assume he was sitting us because there were 2 other tables. The older guy said you can sit down. We said oh, where? He pointed to where the young man walked to. They never said hello or welcome. We sat in our booth. Then young man was our server, and said drinks. Not a question but drinks. We saw the small drinks menu on the table. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and bottles of juice and bottle of water. They returned with cans of Pepsi! They serve cans! Not a fountain drink but cans. I got the Couple boil for me and my daughter which comes with fried calamari rings and my friend got the single boil. I also ordered fried soft shell crab and king crab. They brought one thing out at a time. First crab fried rice that came with the single boil had 1 piece of crab meat. 1! Just in a paper container and no additional plates or things to eat it out of. Then came the mozzarella sticks served with a thousand island dressing instead of marinara sauce. Then they brought my fried calamari rings (see picture). It shouldn’t be that dark but a golden brown. It looked overcooked as it was cooked in old oil. I asked if I could get another one because it was burnt/overcooked but the man in charge asked if I tasted it. I said yes and he said that’s how it’s supposed to look and they would Not recook my fried calamari. He literally said No. Then they brought out my fried crabs. Just as burnt as the fried calamari! Burnt food! Only good fried food was the mozzarella sticks and French fries. The seafood boil was ok. Not the best ever but not bad. That’s why the food gets 2 stars. Horrible service! Our server didn’t want to serve us. He didn’t have an inflection in his voice until it was close to the check. (Tip time)… too late for that. We asked for to go bags for our boils and he gave us a boil bag and a plastic grocery bag to bag up ourselves. The Angry Crab would never. They take it and bag it up for you. Right after our to go bags were given he immediately sets our checks on the table which was so awkward and I realize now it because he didn’t say anything. He just sat them down. No thank you for coming or anything. Just sat them down and walked away. I look at my check and notice the king crab was $89.99 more than my $81 couple boil. I asked my server why didn’t you tell me this was the cost of 1 king crab leg? He said I should’ve told you I’m sorry. I’m used to seafood places listing their changing market prices for seafood. It’s usually posted somewhere in the restaurant. I asked the man in charge and he said the customer usually asks. I said it’s usually posted! If it’s that much it should’ve been mentioned. He didn’t care and said sorry. He gave me beauty supply store owner vibes. Didn’t care and just looked at me like oh well.
We went here for my husband's birthday and we had a great time! The food was amazing and the sauces were spot on, we did the trifecta! One thing to note is this restaurant is Byob, if you want to drink you can bring you own drinks and if you forget there is a gas station down the block. We did the crab and grab (which is for 2 people) we both ate our fill and brought some leftovers home. If you like seafood and are looking for a unique experience, I would recommend giving this place a shot and ignoring some of those other reviews!
Crab and Grab is a great addition to Grayslake! We enjoyed the cancer with the Cajun spices. The lemon pepper that spices on snow cancer is also delicious. We tried the soft shell crab, but found it too oily and lack taste. The lush puppies were also delicious! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great work Crab and Grab!
Had dinner last night. I thought it was wonderful. I had the shells with garlic butter. Delicious! The hub had cooked the shrimp with Cajun season. I recommend the crab fried rice with the side protector of the spicy Cajun sauce. Am I back? Bet! Thanks for the unique experience.
