Fantastic! The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. We especially enjoyed the fish tanks next to our table. It was a wonderful evening out.
If you are looking for authentic Hunan Chinese dishes, this may not be the place, as we stuck to basic menu items like Sweet and Sour Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken, along with some steamed pork dumplings. Despite the simplicity of our choices, everything was delicious. The sweet and sour chicken was particularly good, with just the right amount of fried coating and a thick sauce. The dumplings were also very flavorful. The service was above average, although it did slow down towards the end of our meal. Despite this, the staff was friendly and efficient. One of my friends even mentioned the possibility of hosting a birthday party in the party room in the back, showing a strong interest in returning to this restaurant in the future. Overall, I was impressed with my experience at Hunan Chinese Restaurant. While it may not have blown me away like it did for my friend, I would definitely consider coming back. Unfortunately, as I am no longer a carefree teenager, I have to choose my moments to enjoy Chinese food wisely. Such is the life of a millennial getting older.
One of the better options for Chinese food in the area. Ample seating inside with good ambience but tends to get quite busy over the weekends, so make a reservation if you're coming in the evening. This is also one of the few asian restaurants in the area that serves alcohol and they have a wide variety of drinks. I haven't tried too many cocktails here but generally always had a good experience. Large selection of dishes. I've usually gone with the Hunan Style Tofu which comes with a decent serving of vegetables (especially Broccoli), and can be made spicy if you prefer. The fried rice is also pretty solid in my opinion. Also would recommend the dumplings as you get quite a few pieces. Overall, this place is a bit on the expensive side which is probably the main drawback but the portion sizes are fairly generous. I wouldn't say this place is super authentic compared to what you can get closer to NYC but for this area, it gets the job done. Service is average. Better than most Chinese take-out restaurants but worse than most sit-down restaurants. Pretty typical Denville parking, most likely use the lot below or street parking on the side. To get inside you get past these huge doors, and you'll see several fish tanks inside with several fish swimming along.
Restaurant was recommended on Instagram reel by @locallivingnj The restaurant is stunning beautiful with Chinese decor! Felt like I was back in China! The service was exceptional! The cuisine was tasty! There was a huge aquarium by the bar. Smaller aquarium between two rooms by the table we were seated!! Quite a unique feature! Recommend reservations! The restaurant filled up really quickly! Parking available on site!
