Bidra med feedbackMy friend and I were visiting Boulder and took a big risk making this our first meal because it was SO GOOD that every experience afterwords might have fell short. We had the lamb and quail which were each divine the veggie sides and sauces were mind blowing and the first bite of lamb made my friend’s brain literally explode. It was a transcendent bite. Desert was incredible a limoncello based desert and chocolate tart with blackberry compote. It was a true 10/10 and their passion for fresh sustainable ingredients is obvious. Our server was an absolute gem of a human being we were sat at a couch side by side which was so cozy and cool. The decor is amazing. If you are on a trip, don’t hesitate to go there. It’s all unique enough that it won’t compete with the other nice places you have planned :
This has always been our go to place in Boulder and it is a special place for us. We were so very disappointed last night. For a Thursday evening, it was slow. The food was definitely sub-par. The French Onion soup was thin, the gnocchi with lamb ragout tasteless. Gnocchi was not seasoned well. My husband had the salmon and I had the lamb plate with polenta. The lamb was way overcooked, dry and tasteless. The polenta was hard, and cold. The carrots inedible. While I found the deconstructed creme brulee tasty, my husband, who has a sweet tooth, left half of his supposed tira misu on the plate. The service was good, but the waitress was busy and we were brought the meal by the kitchen staff, who tried hard but obviously had no experience. It looked like all meals had been either prepared too much in advance, or reheated. There was nothing farm to table about this meal, and like I said, it is the place we got to when in Boulder. It's a pricey place, but even if it had not been, the meal was unacceptable. We are unlikely to go back.
Really lackluster service. Our waiter did not want to engage. We did not feel welcome. The overwhelming accoutrement and sauces detracted from the salmon filet. The timing between plates was very slow, and although we accounted for 2 hours for a 3 course meal, we were 30 minutes late to our show. Also the staff asked twice if we had any celebrations, and we let them know it was my sister's birthday, but they did nothing to acknowledge this. Overall the experience would have been a lot better had the service been even 10% better.
I wanted to like this place more than I did. The food itself was pretty good, but service definitely fell short. I work in the wine/hospitality sector, and I know what great service looks like. Our waiter did not introduce himself until we asked specifically, the recommendations of his favorite dish came way after we had already ordered our food (and not what he recommended, apparently), and although the restaurant had asked if it was a special occasion beforehand, and again as the hostess seated us, there were no special details for my birthday, or even a mention of it by our waiter. It was fine, but the hospitality could definitely be improved upon, and for the price point of the meal, the whole experience was a bit disappointing.
The experience was wonderful! Drinks were great, food was fantastic! The sunchokes were my favorite part and were absolutely delicious! What a unique dish! The gnocchi was good, but not better than any other restaurants gnocchi. The salmon dinner was out of this world! Lamb chops were good as well, but not exactly what we were expecting. They were cooked almost like pot roast, but was very delicious and super tender. The only part of the meal that was less than underwhelming was the chocolate cherry dessert. It was dry and gritty, and not fudgey like most other chocolate tortes I've had. Would have gone with another dessert if any others were gluten free. The service was excellent and fun, and the drinks (and drink suggestions) were on point! Great experience all around for a decent price for the quality of the food! Would recommend for a special date or holiday, and we will absolutely be back!
