Ringo-bako - Aomori

Great experience! A really great place to bring people visiting Aomori. This is a very cozy izakaya with great food and live traditional music. I recommend the tuna bowl. Huge pieces of fish and very fresh. They also have great beer and you can request a half and half and mix the beers on tap.

I came there to listen to shamisen because they have live shamisen performances. When I said that is why I came and asked if it was over already, the waiter just nodded. I speak Japanese so he could have replied more. I then asked if the performance would take place tomorrow too at the same time? (7pm). He just nodded again. With this poor service, I didn't feel welcome at all. Especially since there are other places in town that have shamisen performances.

Great food and amazing service! Hirao greeted me and my husband, as it is our first time in Aomori, with a tasting of one of the best we have tried. We were so impressed that we asked if we could buy something in a local liqueur. Hirao has printed a map and even moved us to the street to show us in the right direction. In addition, he gave us his business card if we had problems. Best customer service I have experienced by far in Japan!

Great restaurant, great atmosphere and good food. There are 2 live-shamisen performances per day. This was my first time to Aomori, and I will definitely visit Ringobako on my next trip.

100% recommended. There is an English menu, and the food is great. If you go during the specified times, you can enjoy a wonderful shamisen performance.
