Ambrosia Donuts - Ankeny

Secondhand review from my wife and daughter since I can't eat em (Celiac). They got Bavarian and lemon filled long johns (which are filled fresh when you order), a bear claw, a devil's food, and an apple fritter. The fritter was apparently the best of the batch, even though they raved about all of them.

Great tasting, fresh and soft. Answered all our questions with no attitude and seemed very helpful and nice. Love the fact that they don't use any corn syrup in any of the items we asked about.

The blueberry twist, maple bacon long John and old fashion were great. The apple fritter tasted a little burnt. Would definitely come back.

I go there once a week for our 'cheat day '. Pick your doughnut, then pick your filling and they add it right then. Also the apple fritter is just amazing.

I’m 53 years old and I just ate the best donut of my life. Granted I was there 3 minutes after they opened at 5:30am but WOW! A fluffy pillowy ring of happiness! Coffee is good to.
