Bidra med feedbackI think this may be the first five star rating I have given but Elegante deserves it. The meal we had last night was on a par with any we have had anywhere (another first, I don’t compare local dining to experiences elsewhere. Where to begin? Elegante is new, opened in July and the dream of Stephen the chef/owner. The venue is nicely done rather than elegant but it is really about the food. Service is friendly, professional and attentive. We started with salads, a wedge salad for my wife (don’t let memories of your mother’s wedge salad interfere with trying this and a very nice Caesar for me. The mains, a perfectly prepared seared tune for one and a similarly prepared rack of lamb (imported for me. I have tried rack of lamb locally and have been disappointed more often than not. Not so this time. Three very generous chops resting on a bed of goat cheese mashed potatoes. I knew from the delicious aroma emanating from the plate that I was in for something special. My wife felt the same about her tuna, again a very generous serving perfectly prepared and presented. Warm plates, hot food. Every bite a pleasure. Topped it off with a very good crime brûlée. Heaven! They were out of the baked Brie starter so will just have to go back. Two starters, two mains, three glasses of wine and a dessert. This meal would easily have cost 50% more in Victoria and could not have been better. If you are looking for excellence you need to try Elegante.
If you like fine dinning, attentive waitstaff, good cocktails, great wine and food that makes you say 'wow ', this is the place for you. Some people may say 'pricey '. If $600 pesos seems like alot, well a comparable dinning experience in the U.S. would cost $125 to $150 per person. It is up to you. Enjoy.
Very gourmet and delicious meals! Way exceeded our expectations! My favorite in Ajijic!
