Bidra med feedbackWe stopped here for lunch at 1 o'clock. the restaurant was about 1/2 full. we were welcomed and shown on our table. I ordered a steam brew beer and still water for my wife. my wife ordered kasespatzle and I had rust roast small portion. the menu...has small portions and large portions for most of the elements that are beautiful not to have a huge lunch. we were satisfied with the meal and I enjoyed the beer.
Eating was good (can be a little too salty) I tried the gulash. with a fine glass riesling everything is joined together. desserts also fine (fresh strawberry.) good German food for a very acceptable price.
If you are on holiday in Germany, you want to taste an live the local atmosphere. That is exactly what happens here. Great local food, good value for money and nice service.
Best range of vegetables I have ever had in one meal in Germany! Delicious food, friendly service and nice surroundings. We were not early enough to get a table outside, but the food was so good that did not matter at all. Only surprise was...small choice of wines. Despite that, would go back.
After a day of trying to figure out the bus system in Zwiesel, including an unexpected hike to the Nachmann Crystal outlet in the boondocks, we returned to town looking for a good meal and a good beer. On the downtown square across from the...fountain, we found the Dampfbrau. It is not the brewery which is in another part of town, but it sells its beer on tap. We walked just before they were ready to take their afternoon break before dinner, but our waiter was gracious and friendly, and we were welcomed. The beer was a wonderful dark concoction (it means steam beer) and our meal selections were amazing. I had a beef roast smothered in a cream mushroom sauce (with the local steinpilz mushrooms). My husband had a brisket in a cream sauce. We were surprised to find the meat was similar to corned beef, and so tender it didn't need a knife. It was covered with a delicious light horseradish cream sauce and a sprinkling of horseradish on top. As we were waiting for our meal, we met the resident Wolpertinger (the iPod translator actually translated this as Jackalope, I kid you not), apparently the mascot of the local schnapps distillery. We had to put that visit off for another time.
