Bombay Spice - York

Lovely experience booked a table in advance and we had the place pretty much to ourselves which was nice. Service was spot on from the moment we got in. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy and they were so accommodating, kneeling down next do us to walk her through the menu saying what she can/can’t have. Food was perfect, exactly what you would want from an Indian! Will definitely be coming back

Ordered takeaway as this restaurant used to be a favourite, but never again!!! The food resembled more of an Italian pasta sauce than it did a curry and that's being nice.. the butter chicken tasted like a famous brand tomato soup and the madras, had two flavours tomato passata and spice, no depth to it at all. If you want an ambundance of meat with your curry dont go here.... there was 5 small chunks of chicken (which isnt even one chicken breast)!!! The naans were undercooked and doughy. Very disappointing to say the least, considering the full meal Is very expensive, with each curry itself costing close to 11quid each! avoid at all costs!

Well.... I am not a usual fan of going out for Indian food, it's not my go-to. However, as a family we decided to go here (group of 12, around 6pm on a Saturday, pre-booked), and to my surprise the food here was DELICIOUS. I have tried other Indian restaurants in York before and found the curry's Stodgy and the rice very dry, but this restaurant was great for food on all fronts. We enjoyed some poppadoms followed by starters and then some mains. The staff were all very friendly, and very easy to ask for new drinks. A couple of small mix up with drinks (sizes mainly, asked for large but got small) but nothing to complain about. Had a lovely time out, and would go back again.

We walked in last minute on a Saturday night as a table of 9 after being let down by a different restaurant. Bombay spice were very accommodating and prepared a table for us. The food was lovely the staff were attentive. Highly recommended.

We arrived as the restaurant was opening so was the only group in there at the time. We were only a party of 4 and didn't order much as we'd already had a large lunch, but this didn't seem to bother the staff. Service was excellent, the food came quickly and tasted amazing, and despite our relatively small order, when we asked for the bill we were given a very unexpected round of drinks on the house!
