Bidra med feedbackThe smell of good soul food hit me as soon as i opened the door!! food was delicious and the owner was so nice and accommodating! support this black owned local business ?Food: 5/5
Decided to try one of the few soul food restaurants in the area, and was excited by the 4.4 rating. However, some of the negative reviews rang true during my experience. Ordered 20 wings dings that were burnt and tasted like they were fried in old grease. Side of collard greens were barely chopped so basically I was eating huge leaves. Fiancé ordered whiting, wing combo. Whiting was pretty good but his wings were tiny and again lacked seasoning. His mac and cheese and yams were 6/10 at best. Would not patronize again unless strictly for fried fish.Lastly, the young lady on the phone was abrupt and rude when we were inquiring about what food items were available today.
I was anticipating a better quality of soul food based on the reviews, but instead my fiancée and I were left highly disappointed. The fish, mac and cheese, and yams were good, but the chicken wings were the size of pigeon wings. My fiancée’s order was worst than mines, she ordered 20 wing dings, and they taste like they were cooked in old chicken grease. We will not be returning and I’m mad I spent $43.67 on this nasty food.
Upon entering, you immediately notice the extreme lack of ambiance. The fried food/grease aroma was prevalent. It is a take-out spot. For $16-ish dollars, I almost changed my mind. The woman who took my order greeted me pleasantly and with a smile. I settled on the fried whiting with two sides. The fish was lightly breaded, well-seasoned, plentiful, and cooked to order. The macaroni and cheese was fairly good. I really appreciated that they used turkey to season the generously sized portion of greens versus pork. What I didn't appreciate as much was that the greens were a tad on the salty side. The place is a diamond and definitely in the rough. If you can get past the aesthetics of the surrounding neighborhood and the restaurant's interior, do give it a shot.Parking: There were a few spots when I came. However, you must feed the parking meter.
Just Picked up a Fried Whiting Platter with Collards and Yams as the sides with an extra side of Cabbage. This is some of the best fish I've ever had and all three sides were very very good!!! Also enough food for minimum 3 people!!!!Wow!!! How did I not know about this spot I've been in the neighborhood for 25 years!!!!
