Bidra med feedbackI don't wanna say that the place is bad. Not at all! We had booked a table for five in advance and it was ready on time. Imposing interior, furniture à la l'époque de Pierre le Grand, cozy, clean, tidy. The staff was polite, professional and hospitable. Their food, however, was rather controvertial: shchi, made the day before (traditional Russian sauerkraut soup mind blowing; salads (with smoked duck breast, Olivier aka Russian salad abroad and the one with quail eggs very nice; pirozhki (baked yeast leavened boat shaped buns with various fillings with ground meat and onion as well as with eggs gorgeous; pike patties a catastrophe, dry and sort of pliant; stewed rabbit, Pozharsky cutlet (breaded ground chicken patty , stewed beef and Guriev porridge (dessert made from semolina and milk quite okay; pike perch fillet tasteless and served with some poignant sauce (to camouflage lack of taste? which is a taboo with fish, by the way. It cost us five RUR 5,715 (ca. USD 76 expensive for Russia and from the point of view of price quality ratio unacceptable. So, welcome to Sobranie if you have extra money to spend.
I believe that this restaurant is excellent. They offer a wide variety of Russian dishes at very affordable prices. The food we tried, including Russian oven soup, rabbit, and beef, was all delicious. Their house-infused spirits are decent, though not exceptional. Their baked goods are tasty and budget-friendly. Overall, I consider this to be one of the top dining spots in Yaroslavl.
By no means would I strive to say that the place is bad. Just average. We booked a table for five in advance and it was ready several hours before our arrival we took a promenade along the Volga embankment and quite by chance saw this place so I decided to check whether we were right to choose it. It was really nice inside several underground halls, furniture as if from the times of Russian princedoms, open hearted staff, clean and tidy. When time for lunch came we ordered so called yesterday's shchi (Russian sauerkraut soup which should be served one day after it was prepared), pirozhki (Russian baked yeast leavened boat shaped buns) with meat, spring onion and hard boiled eggs fillings, a smoked duck salad, an Olivier salad (known abroad as Russian), stewed rabbit, stewed beef, Pozharsky cutlets (Russian breaded ground chicken patties), pike patties, Volga pike perch with mashed potatoes, Guriev porridge (another Russian speciality, a dessert made of semolina aka farina, milk, various candied nuts, honey and dried fruits) plus cranberry mors (Russian non carbonated sweet berry drink) and tea/coffee. The food was uneven. Yesterday's shchi was mind blowing, salads and pirozhki were also good, Pozharsky cutlets, stewed rabbit, stewed beef and porridge were quite OK but pike patties were just bad and pike perch absolutely tasteless (they even served it with spicy sauce nonsence if fish is prepared duly). The bill equalled RUR 5,715 (ca. USD 80.5) for four grown ups and a toddler unjust. For those who have extra money.
Great delicious food from Russian traditional oven with an authentic atmosphere and great location. This place is quite busy even at day time so it's better to book in advance.
We went here after a day in the city, and admittedly we did not have reservations but the place was not very busy and we arrived at an early time (4pm) so we were given a table near the entrance. the atmosphere was still nice. The menu is a little odd, since it is primarily in english with russian sub-texts (the opposite of what you would expect to find) we found that some of the translations are also a little bit off, but nothing so severe. The reason we found it strange, is although the menu was in english, absolutely none of the staff or servers spoke english. Service was also on the slow side. The food itself was quite tasty, my mother-in-law had a mushroom appetizer that was excellent, and my baked beef tongue in cream sauce was also very good, even if some of the pieces were chewy and overcooked (the serving was large enough to also have many tender pieces) I saw in several other reviews people praising the homemade flavored vodkas, so we tried them. To be honest, although they were strong and with unique flavors, we found them to be of below average quality. perhaps good for mixing, but not for drinking straight. Overall, I would call this place average. The ambiance is nice, and the food is authentic Russian, but for the price you can get better service and just as high quality food elsewhere in the city.
