Bidra med feedbackWe went to this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. My husband's steak was satisfactory, but unfortunately, my vegan pasta dish was not as expected. Despite confirming it was vegan before ordering (and it was clearly labeled as vegan on the menu), it came with regular parmesan cheese. When I asked for a replacement, I was given a bland tomato soup with pasta, which was then swapped for a burger and chips. However, the burger was extremely oily and lacking the sauce dressing advertised on the menu. Despite the disappointing meal, the waiter and manager were polite and professional. It seems that the chef may need some retraining or should be replaced. In the end, I resorted to a Tesco meal deal in our hotel room. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant if you are vegan.
The restaurant has a beautiful garden patio overlooking the river with mature plants. There are sunny and shady areas with plenty of space. We only had a few drinks so we can't comment on the food or accommodations, but the venue and cottages appeared to be well-maintained and attractive.
Our family lunch at the Diglis conservatory restaurant was terrible. We had dined there before and the food was always excellent. However, this time, with a new chef, we waited over 40 minutes for soggy lukewarm beef and Stilton pies and indifferent crab and prawn linguine. Although the restaurant was clean and the waitress was pleasant, we were very disappointed. We will not be coming back and do not recommend this restaurant anymore.
The view of the river from this restaurant is superb. Also the service was attentive and cannot be faulted. However the food could have been better. In a restaurant like this, I would not have expected to be served burnt toast with both the soup and the mushroom starters. In addition, the chips were served with salt crystals attached to them not good for someone trying to reduce their salt intake! You can easily add salt to a meal if required but, once added, it is impossible to remove it from a dish.
I'd recently had Sunday lunch here, superb. So I brought my friends to celebrate a birthday. Starter was good. I paid extra to have a steak. What a disappointment. Found it under a huge pile of rocket and mushroom. Tender but not worthy of all the money I paid out. Chips were nice. Pavlova desert didn't taste home made; no nice sticky middle. Too large, too much hard meringue. Won't go again.
