La Bienvenida Rest - Woodside

The food at this place is a bit hit or miss. The service is good, but it seems like they cater more to the drinking customers and the waitstaff even joins in with them. Overall rating for the food: 2 out of 5.

I was completely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Kraft singles should not be used on nachos. I am giving it 2 stars because my son really enjoyed his pancakes and bacon.

I had the burrito and carne asada nachos from the food truck in Sunnyside. The meat was thin sliced beef and seasoned to perfection. The nacho toppings were plentiful and even included 2 different Mexican cheeses. I can't wait to eat it again.

Food was more expensive than advertised on the menu. Noticed it was about $1 $2 more for each item compared to the menu price which I don't mind during this period of time (Covid 19) but I'll appreciate it if they would've just gave me a heads up. As for tacos it wasn't amazing but wasn't terrible either. The wings and fries however needed seasoning as it tasted really bland. I added salt and pepper and it tasted a bit better but the wings still had no flavor. All in all, I probably won't return but if I am craving tacos really badly and this place was the only place that is open then I'll go.

On simply looks alone, La Bienvenida might just look like a small and in some cases divey Mexican restaurant. What most folks might not know is that they're in fact among the most successful out there since they have a number of taco carts floating all throughout western Queens. This is simply the brick and mortar location of a mini-taqueria empire. In a city where virtually 90% of all Mexicans inhabitants hail from Puebla, it might come as no surprise that La Bienvenida is mainly poblano style Mexican fare with a little reach in other regional Mexican cuisine. It might be a small place with a few tables, but their menu is stacked. They have as much variety as one could want. I normally don't praise tacos from a non-dedicated taqueria but La Bienvenida does a really good job with theirs. At the standard price of $3 each, they're sizeable and they do a stellar job with their meats, especially the chorizo and carnitas. I also appreciate their tasty sopes, chile rellenos, and especially their quesadillas. They also pride themselves on breakfast, serving the classics like pancakes, omelettes, and such. While breakfast is some of my favorite food out there, I think their chilaquiles or huevos a la mexicana are quality choices. I'm not sure about their delivery status, but I think they do a good job packing the takeout. If the restaurant is not available, the carts in Woodside, Jackson Heights, and Sunnyside.
