Bidra med feedbackWe were craving a steak on Wednesday night (07/01), so we decided to head to the pub. As out-of-towners, we had no idea it was steak night, and it was packed with people. We took that as a good sign. My partner ordered a steak at a decent price and was quite satisfied with it. However, I chose the midi eye fillet, which, as it turned out, wasn't part of the special. That’s fine, but I expected it to be cooked to my liking (medium-well), and unfortunately, it was burnt. While it was still tender, the char was off-putting. I considered mentioning it, but after waiting 45 minutes for our food, I was too hungry to watch my partner eat while I waited for a replacement. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed, and I felt for them, but when you spend good money on a steak, you expect it to be cooked properly. The accompanying salad and potato were excellent, and in this respect, The Norman Hotel could learn a thing or two (their salad and Idaho potato are good, but not as good as this). The Norman typically serves three to four times as many customers as The Woodford Pub did that night, and I’ve never had a bad steak there. Here, you're paying about the same for an eye fillet as you would at The Norman, yet it arrived burnt on the outside. I wasn't impressed. Next time, I think I'll stick to my reliable garlic prawns. The staff were fantastic and very friendly, so I will return, just not for the steak.
Excellent ambiance. Welcoming staff. High-quality food. I really enjoy the steak night on Wednesdays!
I considered speaking up about it, but it took 45 minutes for our order to arrive. I was hungry and didn’t want to just watch my partner eat while waiting for a replacement. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed that night, and I sympathized with the staff, but when I pay a good price for a steak, I expect it to meet my expectations. On a positive note, the accompanying salad and potato were excellent, and in that regard, I think the Norman Hotel should take note. Their salad and Idaho potatoes are good, but not as impressive as these. The Norman typically has three or four times as many customers as the Woodford pub does on a busy night, and I've never had a bad steak there. At the Woodford pub, I paid the same for an eye fillet, but it shouldn’t come out burnt on the outside. I’ll continue to return to my reliable favorites. However, I must say the staff was great and very friendly. I will come back, just not for the steak.
On Wednesday night (July 1st), we decided to indulge in some steak at the pub. We were pleasantly surprised to find it quite busy, which we took as a good sign. The price for my partner's steak was reasonable, and he was very pleased with it. I went for the midi eye fillet, which I knew wasn't part of the special offer. That was fine, but I expected it to be cooked as I requested (medium-well). Unfortunately, it arrived burnt. While it was still tender, it was charred. I considered bringing it to the staff's attention, but after waiting 45 minutes for our order, I was too hungry to sit and watch my partner eat while wondering how long it might take for a replacement to come.
The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff is very friendly. The quality of the food is excellent. I especially love the Steak Night on Wednesdays!
