Bidra med feedbackNice restaurant, very cool view, but usually elder people there. Also not so many tables (about 8), so it's a risk to come there and get no table. At rainy days u have more chances. Brunch is just traditional and fine there. Prices are a...bit high, but quiet, nice service and special place.
Worth visit this very nice collection of paintings and sculptures. Nice gardens, parking place and in the middle of a forest, 15 minutes walking distance from the center of Winterthur. The entrance fee is 15 CHF
The surroundings are beautiful even on a very hot June day with temp.as high as 32 C. However, we had to move from the terrace to the inside although the facilities have no air conditioning. The food and drinks are real good and the service...intimate and outstanding. The house collection of Oskar Reinhart at Roemerholz is one of the best in the country and should be visited more than once. Checking the SBB website for travel from Zurich to the Museum we found the train to Winterthur and bus no. 10 from Winterthur Hbf to Haldengut to be followed by a 7 minutes walk. The latter is actually quite a steep climb which is unpleasant in extreme weather and takes more than seven minutes. Only on the spot did we find out that there is an hourly Museum bus (minibus) connecting it comfortably with the main railway station of Winterthur. The fact that this is not mentioned on the SBB website is quite unfair.
I visited this Cafe after seeing the wonderful collection of Art of Oscar Reinhart at Roemerholz. The Cafe is excellent, very pleasant, simple yet with character, it overlooks the wonderful gardens of the old residence, now turned to Museum. When I was there it was...a sunny day and many were sitting outside at a November noon. The sandwich with ham that I tasted was excellent , the service and the whole ambience very amicable. over I was lucky to notice that after a couple of days,an Italian night would take place at this Cafe ,which I attended and which was wonderful, with excellent food and wine and piano accompanying Italian arias. I do not know how frequent are this kind of events but once you step on it ,don't miss it!
