Fishcraft - Windsor and Maidenhead

The restaurant is not usually open on Mondays (according to their web site but I guess the Bank Holiday opportunities in the Windsor/Eton tourist zone were too much of a temptation. It showed: there appeared to be only two working front of house we were offered a table on the terrace (for which read back yard overlooked by the neighbours , and despite there being only one or two other tables occupied in the restaurant, as far as we could see, were then left to peruse the menu for 10 15 minutes. When we were asked for our drinks order, it took another 10 minutes for the glasses to be brought (we already had glasses and then another 5 for the actual drinks. Only as the sharing starter was delivered (no complaints there were we told one of our main orders was no longer available. When the revised order arrived, I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the food (although the samphire was obviously cooked well in advance . Overall: 3/5 will revisit review sites before returning

Great food, great service, amazing gin cocktails, lovely evening all round.

Excellent food and service. Shame it was so quiet but not their fault! Tacos and whole plaice were especially good.

For the started my wife and I had the bruschetta with chorizo, which was wonderful. I had the signature dish of fish and chips. Unfortunately it came out cold and a little tasteless. My wife had the crab with the pepper sauce and loved it. Overall it was a good experience with very good service and a nice atmosphere. I will be going back to taste other menu options.

Sadly despite this restaurant being quiet the service was way beyond acceptable. No checkback, no offer to take another drinks order and finished plates left in front of us for 15 20 minutes incredibly unappealing. Bill came with 10% service added, to be fair to them they did remove this when I challenged them on the service levels and a slight discount off the final bill. Food ok, would not rush back in a hurry, plenty of other restaurants in Windsor and Eton that appear to want our business!
