The Plaice - Winchester

The chips, fish cake, and mushy peas at this restaurant were the most delicious I've had in a while. They were piping hot, crispy, and freshly cooked. The atmosphere was simple and basic, but the service was friendly. The highlight of the meal was definitely the top-notch chips and food.

As ever, great fish, battered sausage chips (really huge portion too! . Friendly efficient staff! Highly recommended!

The old bag behind the counter was very rude. Food was basic. Don’t bother asking for gravy because you’ll get an ear full.

The restaurant failed to include all of our order in the package, and we didn't realize until we got home. When we called to inform them, there was no offer of a discount for the inconvenience of having to drive back to collect the missing items. The lady owner displayed very rude and poor customer service. While the staff were okay, I would strongly recommend avoiding this establishment due to the owner's negative attitude. It seems that they are only motivated by money.

Firstly the name is wrong. The St Cross chippy is called First Plaice. The Harestock chippy is called The Plaice. These reviews are all messed up because someone got the names mixed up. First Plaice (St Cross) is awful, tried it several times over the years food has been bad each time. The Plaice (Harestock) is fab, never had a bad meal from them.
