Samuel's Rest - Winchester

I have nothing but praise for this place, the staff are very friendly and accommodating and the food quality and choice is beyond belief. We normally visit the area every couple of months and always end up at Sam’s for a midday meal and we have not been disappointed yet I thoroughly recommended it to anyone if you are in the area. The one thing that disappointed me this time was to hear that they are closing the kitchen so many times during the week due to lack of trade If I lived in the area I would eat there a could of times a week and definitely on a Sunday their roasts have to be seen to be believed. I hope all goes well for this Public House because I will definitely eat there when I visit the area next time.

A fantastic traditional local pub with amazing food. Generous portions and all cooked to order. A short walk from New Place Hotel.

Frequently used this pub over the years always been a warm welcome from all members of the staff and the locals. Food is always good and the portion sizes are enormous! Nice big open garden space with lots of seating in the sun. Pool table in the conservatory area and Jukebox has a good selection of music yet to find something that isn't one there!

Such a lovely plate of food, I come to this pub regularly and the food is fantastic, such big portions and just like your Mum’s cooking. Great staff, nice atmosphere. So good that there’s a pool table and jukebox. Will be back!!!!

Doesn’t really seem like it’s a pub that sells food , they do have a menu and the food is really nice , but I seemed to be the only one eating it , I found it to be quite expensive for what it was , like the draft coke being £3.50 , and hunters chicken at £17 odd , portion size I can’t complain at , the guy behind the bar wasn’t overly friendly, I felt it’s a very much locals pub , but having a huge hotel just round the corner you would think they would be more welcoming in the chance of actually getting business of the back of them .
