Bidra med feedbackWe make it a point to be hungry for ice cream when we’re heading for Williamsport. This place is a “have to” stop.
We were staying at the Woodward Campground near Millheim and bought a quart of Sunset Ice Cream in the coconut flavor. This is definitely my new 'best ' ice cream ever!!! It has that buttery, creamy flavor that I love!!!
While driving from Vermont to Seattle over the holidays, the storms in Erie caused me to re-route my trip off I-90 to I-80. I made the best of it by taking an extra few hours to drive through my old stomping grounds in Williamsport. I drove past a number of sights from my childhood and was thrilled to see that Sunset was open (moved a bit up the road, but open nonetheless)! Despite the single-digit temperature, I had to stop for a treat. Walking inside felt bright and familiar, and I was elated to see so many flavors I remembered from the past. I have never been able to find peanut butter ripple ice cream anywhere else, and tasting it again was like being transported back to my childhood. The player piano was absent from the current location, but I swear I could hear the keys softly plinking away at a ragtime tune as I ate my ice cream with a huge grin on my face. I should've bought a t-shirt. Thanks for saving a piece of my childhood, Jessica.
My treat is when I bring my grandsons for ice cream and they order the bubble gum flavor and have it in a milkshake and I get to watch them enjoy it ..
The praises we heard from friends, who know ice cream when they have it, were confirmed with our visit today. Nice selection of flavors and decent value. Our only suggestion is layering the toppings on your signature sundaes. Otherwise a great place!
