I could go this restaurant last week with my family and we enjoyed it very much. I've changed a lot, but never walked in. in the past, if we wanted genuine authentic Chinese cuisine, we would always simply go to vancouver. each of the dishes we ordered was fresh and delicious. we'll go back.
Asked for slight change in one of items on the menu to be told no (nothing major , wanted fried rice instead of noodles which they serve with other dishes anyway) Then waited almost half an hour for spring rolls in restaurant where only 3 tables were vacant chicken fried rice was served shortly after the starter. In the main dish there were 4 tiny pieces of chicken( shown on the photo ) when I asked the server about it she first didn't understand what I was saying to her and then when she finally got it , she said she will speak to the chef and never returned to the table.Flavour itself was alright , nothing to scream about , to be quite frank you can pay less and get better chicken fried rice from your local take out and not pay restaurant prices.Best thing is that we asked for two glasses of water and coke. Coke and two empty glasses arrived ( bizarre ) Overall :Seriously don't bother.
We have had a cold chicken (with bones and skin) dish in a spicy broth, a hot boiled in oil fish dish that was very spicy, fried green beans, a tofu dish, and a pork dish. They have dishes with intestines and tripe, and all kinds of seriously authentic stuff. All we have had has been outstanding. This is a great place for the food adventurous, those who have been to China, and Chinese who miss the cooking of home. They also have dishes for the less adventerous, anyone can find something they love here.
Okay, let's get this out of the way: CCTV stands for Canada China Tsingtao Vancouver. There! We ordered three items for lunch, our first meal here. Our favorite dish was a beef noodle dish that we liked a lot even though the dish we were served bore no resemblance to the picture in the pictorial menu. The noodles were exceptional. However we weren't crazy about the kung pao chicken, whose base sauce was a tangy sweet-sour. I realize there's no one right way on that dish, but this was definitely a downside surprise. We do not like, and would have never ordered, a sweet-sour dish. Pork-chive dumplings were great, and there were so many we shared them with the gentlemen at the next table! One warning: they apparently don't heat the restaurant. It was actually a little uncomfortable dining in our parkas.
