Crazy Raven Bar & Grill

Absolutely the worst ever food I have ever been served. Macaroni was disgusting. Dried rubbish. 15 dollars down the drain.

Help me understand the reason why a cozy restaurant Crazy Raven has a 19+ age limit, even during the day? The monopolist does not want to see families with children and forces them to go to an overpriced grill with expensive, harmful and low-quality grub. We can go with an 11 year old to Stanley Park Brewery for example in the evening, but we can't visit Crazy Raven in Cypress Mountain even in the morning. Hey, are you out there crazy with your monopoly?

This is the main restaurant/bar at the base of the Cypress Mountain alpine ski area. It is good for some après ski drinks. The food is grill standard, very heavy on the burgers and high calorie foods. Not much for a vegetarian. The spring rolls are far too heavy and greasy. The wait staff are very pleasant. Overall the food is mediocre but it's pretty much the only place to get a meal this close to the ski area. And the beer is good.

We arrived in the crazy raven after a few hours skiing and we were looking for a quick bite to eat before we hit the slopes again to make the most out of our day passes for the mountain. How wrong we were. The restaurant was not overly busy and there were ample servers bumbling around the restaurant but our food still managed to take over an hour to arrive at our table. We understood that our server was new to the restaurant, as he let us know. But on this mans second day on the job there is no way he should have been serving tables, let alone an entire section unsupervised. This was a recipe for disaster as the man was getting no help from his colleagues. In fairness to the management, once they figured out the chaos that had ensued from their lack of training for their staff, they did reduce our bill for us. The food was nice, although we had to inhale it to make the most of the evening that was left. Will not return.

As a tourist, I understand that it is important for me to adhere to local laws, but I was very disappointed when I was not allowed to eat at this restaurant because I had my infant son with me. (No one under 19 allowed, but does an infant really count?) I also needed a warm place to breastfeed and the restaurant next door was overly crowded. In the end, we had to feed in the car and bought food and drinks elsewhere. I'm confused about the distinction between public bars and restaurants in BC, and researching the laws didn't provide much clarity. Despite this, the young server was condescending, rude, and unsympathetic to our situation. When I explained that the other options were full, she offered no other solutions. I can understand if they were concerned about their liquor license, but the whole experience was upsetting and not the welcoming Canadian hospitality I expected.
