Bidra med feedbackThe cafe is not cheap, but then where is these days! We enjoyed coffee and cake, the cake was a decent size but the coffee although nice is served in cheap cups- like the ones in a premier inn. What is nice is the atmosphere, there are loads of wooden tables surrounded by lots of plants and a lovely cottage effect. Relaxing for an afternoon break. The garden centre is full of lovely home decorations, garden furniture and clothes, unfortunately very pricey.
Been many times before so treated myself to a coffee and a pain au raisin . Well the pain au raisin I must say this time was really awful, heavy , soggy , tough , cold , stale , Not light and flaky , in fact I would not be surprised if it was yesterday’s! Honestly I could have had a far better one from lidl ! last time it was good so very inconsistent ! coffee ok but not great and at nearly £8 for both I shall, definitely think twice next time ! Thinking b about it I should have complained but not always easy when there’s a lot of people waiting. Come on BGC , you are really letting yourself down here and looking at the recent reviews as well it’s not just me ! Much better places for food !
I've been a regular visitor to the Burford Garden Co. for around 20 years, as I live nearby. I think the cafe lets it down to be honest. The quality of the coffee is absolutely terrible as it's out of those awful press button machines. Why they don't upgrade to proper barrista coffee I'll never know. Also the staff in my opinion have always been miserable. The weekend/holiday students are surly and feel they are above working in a cafe (well, get another job then) and you almost feel like apologising if you need to complain about the coffee or dry cakes. I know they deal with large numbers of visitors but it is bad even at quieter times. I prefer now, to go to Lynwoods in Burford for a decent cup of coffee, even when I shop at BGC. They need to up their customer service/attitude and coffee because it ain't cheap.
Visited here today Sunday 24th of March with my son . We fancied a coffee and cake while having a bimble around. I was very disappointed at the lack of choice on the gluten free front , choices were brownie or cornbread really poor considering you say that you cater for allergens and dietary requirements. If that's catering for them , more imagination is needed ...
My husband and I popped in for breakfast today and were massively disappointed with the food and the service. We chose a Burford breakfast priced at 12.95, porridge and 2 pots of English breakfast tea, at over £3 per small pot The wait was long and when it arrived, the tea was so super weak it was undrinkable. We mentioned this to the waiter, who we assumed was a senior team member/manager. Instead of apologising etc, he grumpily huffed and simply said what tea is it? And stalked off with the weak pots. My husband went to the counter to collect the new pots and the man did eventually apologise. The Burford breakfast was a huge let down, cold bacon, cold beans, undercooked eggs, tomatoes so tough we couldn 't even cut them with a knife! The toast was stone cold too. The porridge was OK. We decided to give up with the cooked breakfast and simply order toast, we didn 't want to complain further! This took more than 25 minutes to arrive and the cafe was not remotely busy! We finally gave up, asked for a refund on the toast and the lady on the till said she was surprised at our experience. We had checked Trip Advisor whilst waiting for the toast to arrive, so knew the reviews they have been left for the last year or more, we pointed out to the lady that based on the reviews she should not be surprised... she replied that Trip Advisor is not an accurate representation of the business.... we however strongly disagree and will not be returning! The rest of the garden centre is a delight to visit, but avoid the cafe.
