Tio Taco - West New York

I usually get a salad with grilled chicken and it's delicious. The Cemitas are also really good

It doesn't get more authentic than this -and that's saying a lot for West New York. It's usually bustling on the weekends. Food is Delicious with capital D, and very reasonably priced too. No children's menu but ask your server for chicken fingers and fries if that's your thing. Try the pozole. Order an horchata drink. Every sauce that comes with the complimentary chips is super hot. Every one. That said, don't expect a franchise look and feel nor any polish in the decor. It's very mom-and-pop. As a rule of thumb for Mexican restaurants in general: the worse the mural on the wall, the better the food.

As vegetarians, we ordered tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. Everything was delicious and tasted great. The place was also very clean, and the staff at the checkout were exceptionally friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Great Mexican cuisine! We’ve been dining here since it opened about 10 years ago, and we love that the tortillas are made by hand. I took away one star because they only accept cash and do not take credit cards.
