We all opted for the special, which included 2 servings of fish and chips with a bottle of wine for each couple. The food and wine were promptly brought to us by a cheerful waitress, and we all enjoyed what could possibly be the best fish and chip meal in the area. The restaurant has a cozy and unpretentious atmosphere, with an open fire warming the space. There are smaller tables for couples and larger bench-style tables for groups like ours, as well as a small bar for convenience. We had a wonderful time at Docherty's, with excellent service and delicious food. As a party of twelve we enjoyed prompt service, very reasonable prices, and excellent fish and chips! The chips were perfectly cooked, the fish was delicious and the batter light and crispy. Generous portion sizes too. This was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back! The meal deal for two: fish and chips and a bottle of wine for £20 was really good value, and the white wine was very drinkable.

I've been to several award- winning fish and chip shops and this is better than any of them.... The cod and chips was perfectly cooked, service was friendly and efficient and prices are excellent value. Strongly recommended. Thank you both.

I absolutely adore this restaurant. The cuisine is scrumptious and the staff is welcoming, amiable, and very attentive. I cannot recommend it enough.

The q outside was testament to the popularity of this place for the locals but it moved quickly and was worth the wait absolutely delicious cod and chips. Friendly staff and service too.
