Bidra med feedbackIt was our first visit, and I must say I really enjoyed it. Gen is a great spot for a unique dining experience. However, the wait was quite long. The food was very good, but it came out a bit slowly. The atmosphere was also quite loud. You only have an hour and a half to eat, and in our case, the service was slow, which didn't help. Even though they knew we had less than an hour and a half left, they still let us in. To be fair, we did start our meal with about an hour and 15 minutes remaining. We've been to cheaper places with equally great food, but would we come back? Probably not.
Gen Korean BBQ is the best Korean BBQ restaurant I've ever been to. The atmosphere feels like a celebration, thanks to the vibrant lighting, upbeat music, and overall positive vibes. I've never had a bad experience at any of their locations!
The wait staff were communicative, patient, and went the extra mile for us. They were proactive with our needs and weren't pushy. The food was so good that my friends continued eating and ordering even after time constraints. They deserved the tip I left them. I didn't care how much it was; Mikey was that awesome. The busser was as well. This was the best graduation birthday because of Mikey and the busser.
Town between 3 or 4 stars, so rounding up since every business deserve the benefit of a doubt. As soon as you arrive, they tell you all the restrictions which is a turn off. Almost seemed happy to do it. At least say it with a smile or apologize or something. Just starts with 90 min limit, out of certain meats (in this case tongue) and side dishes are per request. Almost turned around and left, but we?re hungry. Once we were seated though, the service was awesome. Very quick and attentive. They work as a team, so they are very efficient. Our main server was very cool and friendly, which helped turn things around. The meat is not the highest quality, but good enough for fulfill a craving. Only think we didn?t like was the Hawaiian steak. Everything else we tried was pretty good! Brisket, kalbi, calamari, pork belly and prime steak were all pretty good. As for the side dishes, they bring out everything to order and bring you plenty of it. Not sure why they have to share the limitations when you arrive. They had most everything and the server bring you refills when requested. Price was pretty reasonable too. $25.99 pp! Not bad.
This was likely one of the worst BBQ experiences I've ever had. The quality of the meat has dropped significantly. The highlight of the meal was the plain white rice. If you're craving authentic Korean barbecue, I would suggest heading to Koreatown instead. I would rate the food a 1 out of 5, but our server, Beto, deserves a perfect 5 out of 5 for his excellent service!
