Bidra med feedbackDaniel Rößler, the restaurateur at Haus Eifgen, has filed for bankruptcy; the process has not yet been opened. He wants to "call it quits" on December 19, 2015. Owner Herbert Ante takes note of this even though he no longer has any rental income. Rößler said in an interview with WGA on Wednesday that he could no longer offset the decline in party business. Weddings, on the other hand, "were going well", but could no longer offset the losses in ongoing operations. Rößler admits that he may have been a bit negligent in running the restaurant and bar. When he took over the house from Sascha Hilverkus, the focus was on parties and weddings - with a "negligible amount of conference business". In this respect, initially the beer garden did not run well either; especially since warm meals were missing, Daniel Rößler is sure. Last summer, however - with a new chef just starting out - the outdoor dining was exceptionally good. "One could have built on that," Rößler recalls. However, it was no longer possible to keep the sinking party boat afloat. Taxes also came into play; when the trade tax was due recently, he had to pull the emergency brake and could not wait another week, especially since the rent had become too much for him. It had even increased, which is why deferral agreements no longer really helped. Rößler concludes: "I currently see no way to continue running the house." This would only be possible if the rent significantly decreased. He naturally regrets this very much in light of this otherwise beautiful building. It is not surprising, however, that he has been the seventh lessee in twelve to thirteen years. Herbert Ante currently does not know what will happen next. "The search is ongoing. Nothing has been decided yet. I don't know what will happen next." He is currently handing over his business to his son and will "see what happens then. Maybe I will lease it out again." The statement that he could possibly return as a restaurateur himself is immediately withdrawn by Ante. "Then I'll get in trouble with my wife..." Source: [hidden link]
