Canton House - Welland

We bought in the stack of food from Canton House and it was all delicious. Very good prices too. worth a visit.

The best lemon chicken. uses genuine lemmons and not only bottle of lemon sauce better then mandarin's. Soups are also very good. The best lemon chicken everywhere. for over 10 years there. Great service.

I have taken over Chinese food from the cantonal house for about 6 years and think it is the best Chinese option in Welland. I especially love their cantons Chow My court. We usually land with a lot of Won tone soup and a few others of Cantonese Chow My together with 1 other dish for our family of 4. I've never eaten in the restaurant and ALWAYS have made it.

I've been here many times and referred friends. On my last visit, about 6 months ago, I took a friend and we both enjoyed a quiet dinner. What I found amazing was the dinner specials were still priced at $9.99 after at least 4 years and they still served a lot of decent food family style. Well, it couldn't last forever. The prices have been inflated by a whopping 50% across the board! The food has not changed, the service is still OK although when I asked the server for a takeaway box, she picked up all my food and walked away with it. I had to chase her to ask what she was doing and she thought I didn't want it! Just like the people at the next table, I clearly asked for a takeaway box! Sheesh! One other annoyance that I find is common everywhere is that the service is always better when there is more than one person in a group. I waited a long time for each course. The table of 2 near my had extraordinary quick service throughout their meal. They came in 10 minutes after me and left before me! That's downright terrible service on the part of the server who BLEW her tip for this! What I found really annoying was the poor attitude of the man at the bar where I was paying the check. He was in a really grumpy mood like I've never seen but he had no problem being very polite with two takeaway customers. Between the non caring attitude of this employee, no changes to the menu, except for the unreasonable rise in prices and that the decor has not been updated in over 20 years, I've come to the sad conclusion that the Canton House has had its day. I'm done with it. Too bad, it was a good place that I have visited many times in the past 20 years.
