Bidra med feedbackI loved the rustic charm of this place. I thought it was a bit loud when children walk in and out. It took an unusually long time before our food arrived. It was the day of mothers and do not think they were adequately staffed. The meal was... well worth waiting.
Based on good reviews here and elsewhere on the Internet, my partner and I went to Gasthof Rose in Oberflockenbach for lunch. We came at 12:40 and the place was full. Since we had no reservations, we were sent to the next room, which was not a problem for us. We ordered at 12:50, my partner the cheese noodles (including side salad) and I the Hungarian goulash (including noodles, vegetables and a side salad). While we waited for our apple splashes, a waiter came and asked if the three beers were on his tray for us, but they were on another table. Our apple squirrels (apple juice choir) arrived quickly, but were very watery. Then another waitress of the soup we had not ordered, but we said that soup is always included. The soup was pretty good, some noodles and minced meat, possibly liver. A waiter came to us with a scavenger, again that was meant for another table. We wondered how the service personnel seemed to be overwhelmed. Another waitress came to us with a salad, but took it away because it was not meant for us either. After about 40 minutes waiting time, my partner asked one of the waiters about our main dishes and was asked if we had already ordered. 10 minutes later we haven't had our main meal yet. My partner asked again and said the waitress, we would wait for another 5 minutes and then go. Within 5 minutes we were actually served our dishes by a rather upset waitress. The cheese noodles were so-so, the goulash was chewing, my egg noodles were al dente, and the vegetables came as salty purée. We had to ask two more times until we got our side salads, which consisted of green greens with a little shredded carrot. When we paid, my partner quietly said his opinion that the waiting staff seemed overwhelmed when there are so many guests. The waitress, the same who had taken our orders, caught us that the meals were freshly cooked and not only heated in the microwave, so there was a soup and salad in between. I answered that 50 minutes was still a long waiting period and that we had to ask several times until we got the page salads.
Loved everything. Rooms, prices, service, staff quality, Schmitt Family, everything. Views, ambience, breakfast buffet, meals, comfort, even has bus stop and mail right there. What a place.
My brother lived 3 years in Oberflockenbach and every time we visited, we tried to eat in the rose (I think the sign says Zum Rose or Zur Rose). Was not always open, but when it was the best! The number one...dish was the Chateaubriend, but as I remember, you had to call, especially when they were busy. The potato croquettes were fabulous. Very recommended.
If someone loves traditional cuisine, he's here. Here is still cooked, i.e. fresh vegetables here peas and carrots) fresh, in a light flour sweat, the pommes were a poem, cherry, well tanned in little! Fat, the Odenwald cattle steers a pleasure, tender, medium on the point, sharply fried as you love his steak. Self-made crimp butter that fits perfectly. And finally, a hunter's lap that has no MAGGI. Not to mention the soup. Wildsüppchen mit Eifoam. Delicious. A food that deserves the name of the homemade traditional cuisine. Respect. Thanks to the Rose restaurant for the great food and the beautiful afternoon.
