Bidra med feedbackWhat a weird pigs ear pub, bench outside covered in bird s**t, most miserable scruffy unaccommodating bar man I’ve ever come across. Terrible beer, horrible interior. The experience was like a scene of Sean of the dead. Never again will I step into that tired, dated hell hole of a pub, restaurant area was like a wimpy pub, lights turned out and the food looks disgusting anyway. So not really surprised
Family meal which was really nice and lovely staff especially Emma who went out of her way to cook my dad something that wasn’t on the menu would highly recommend
I always dread pub roast dinners. Not to ring my own bells, but I make the best roast potatoes in the world and my children always balk at soggy pub potatoes. The potatoes at the Pig Butcher were perfection…crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside…perfect. Coupled with beautifully cooked meat, amazing choice of delicious vegetables, oodles of thick beefy gravy, perfect yorkshires, fab speedy service friendly, helpful staff…what’s not to like? The puddings were also amazing…again too many places sell you a chocolate “brownie” that is overbaked and is actually nothing more than chocolate cake. The brownies were dense, rich and the perfect texture; the treacle tart was amazing (our only complaint would be that we should have ordered more as it was so moreish! ; even the ice cream was sensational quality…our daughter commented the strawberry ice cream “actually tastes like strawberries”. Even the prices were reasonable…it’s not fancy gastro pub, overpriced designer food…it’s good, honest pub grub, well cooked and eaten in a friendly, vibrant atmosphere.
I went to the restaurant for the first quiz night and had a wonderful time. The pub is under new management, and they are doing a great job. The food looks delicious, although we only had drinks this time. Everyone was very friendly. Best of luck to the new team.
This restaurant is a pub that serves food in an old-fashioned style. They have a good selection of beer, which is important in today's economy. The atmosphere is welcoming and reminiscent of a traditional local pub. There is a local shop across the street that offers some tasty local treats.
