Bidra med feedbackThe New Raj Mahal is a well established local restaurant. This was our second recent visit after a lapse. Both visits the food and the service has been excellent. Mohammad the owner is a character and very jovial. The menu offers a wide choice of dishes and for me personally the medium hot range is well catered for. To conclude well worth a visit, booking advised.
On walking into the restaurant we were welcomed in and seated by the waiter. There was a really cool hand sanitizer dispenser operated by a foot pedal near to the door. The decor and furniture reminded me of a 1980's Indian restaurant and was very nostalgic. I noted that the waiter was dressed in jeans and trainers and was not wearing a face covering which was a bit disappointing. Onto the food and the starters duly arrived. My Lamb Tikka starter was tasty but very chewy but the King Prawn Puri was immense in both size and flavour. The main courses arrived and my Garlic Chicken Curry was full of flavour and the meat very tender. Unfortunately the curry lacked any heat at all which left me a little underwhelmed. There were no complaints from the other side of the table with the Chicken Shaslick, which again was massive and the meat very tender. After the meal, the waiter brought us out proper hot flannels to freshen up, which made a change from the usual microwave in a packet wipes they give out these days. However after wiping our hands and face with these, we were all left with a horrible damp smell on our skin from the flannels. We were also given slices of orange to cleanse the palate. Fortunately I decided to peel the skin away from the orange before I ate it as I found a black maggot like creature in one of the slices. Although this was not the restaurants fault and they couldn't have seen this inside the orange, it put a dampener on the meal for me.
We were staying at a hotel near to this restaurant and I had read the good reviews of it. They were spot on. Very friendly service, nice, comfortable atmosphere. Food very good with big portions. Would definitely visit again. several customers in the place that were regulars. Take your own beer/wine, alcohol not served.
While on holiday we decided to try out this restaurant. The owner was cheery and kind. Food was delicious. Would definitely go there again.
The restaurant offers friendly service, excellent meals, and a really nice atmosphere that is quiet, calm, and understated. While they do not serve alcohol, it appears that you are able to bring your own. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
