Bidra med feedbackIf you're anywhere out in Gippsland, you'll probably see a lot of Cafe's and Coffee Shops with a small sign out the front indicating they sell Bushies Pies. Having had a few of these it was worth going to the well to experience the pies at the source.<br/ <br/ Just a few clicks North East of Traralgon lies the tiny town of Glengarry. Otherwise a completely non descriptor garden variety country town with one pub and an IGA, it also has Bushies Bakery.<br/ <br/ They probably should not be considered a bakery because they mostly have pies. And they are really REALLY good pies. This time, I had the Beef Stroganoff pie. Check out the pics, it's not your average pie kinda filling, and this is representative across the range of pies they make.<br/ <br/ Of critical importance, the pie crust is just the best I've had. You just got to crunch into one and you know right away... Yep that's how all pie crusts should be, regardless of the filling.<br/ <br/ My only let down was the coffee could be better, but that's my Melbourne coffee snob attitude coming through. This place really is all about the pies. No fancy fit out. No silver service. It's a pie in a paper bag and the coffee in a paper cup. Sit outside if you want, but the SAUCE IS FREE as it should be everywhere.<br/ <br/ So, if you are anywhere within 100km of Glengarry, put Bushies Bakery on you're list to visit!<br/
Tiny bakery on the main street in Glengarry. Good Friday lined up at 10am (when the stores opened and there at least 150 people in front. Total wait time we 2hrs. Best Hot Cross Buns in Victoria. Love that $1 from every pack is donated to the Good Friday Appeal. Definitely worth the wait. The bakery needs a pre order pay option though. Bring a jacket and brolly if you intend on lining up (and a drink/snack!
Holy moly!!! This place is the bomb. Amazing and I mean amazing homemade pies, literally melt in your mouth and they are adorable and filling also. At Easter these guys do some incredible hot cross buns in flavours you can only dream off! Totally worth the 2h drive there!!
Bushies Bakery is rapidly gaining viral popularity in the area. I would anticipate they will be the next Pattie's Pies if they continue on this trajectory. Their pies are unique and sumptuous and their hot cross buns have people lining up around the corner at Easter Time. They seem to be extremely hard working and their pies can be found in at least two cafes in Morwell. I have bought them and then frozen them at home for another time but the best thing I think is to get a pie and then hop on the rail trail and burn that energy. Well done, Bushies!
Little gem off the edge of Traralgon. Beautiful setting with lovely service and fresh food. The cocktail list is small but quite unique. Great to see local produce being incorporated.
