Sushi 99 - Waterloo

We ordered takeout from this restaurant. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. The restaurant is also nice for dining in, and the takeout packaging was well done. The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes, and the yam maki rolls were particularly tasty. They offer a variety of options for vegetarians as well.

The food was disgusting and the service was awful. We ended up leaving before finishing our meal because it was so terrible that we couldn't eat half of what we had ordered. The waiters were rude and made my child feel uneasy. It was overpriced and not worth it. Don't waste your money here.

I will not be returning to Sushi 99. I have dined here many times in the past, often with a large group, which worked well in this impersonal and basic environment. It is far from elegant dining. Before Covid, the service was better and more pleasant. However, during our last visit, it was simply terrible. The servers seemed overwhelmed and more like runners than waitstaff. Despite asking for tea as soon as we sat down, it never came. I reminded multiple servers of our request, but still no tea. We also had to ask for wasabi multiple times, resulting in me eating most of my sushi without it. While I understand that the food isn't top-notch, I was willing to overlook it because of the reasonable prices and all-you-can-eat option. The sesame balls were always a favorite. However, after this last visit - crowded, noisy, poor service, no tea - we have decided not to return. Additionally, the washrooms were not as clean as we would have liked. Farewell, Sushi 99.

We ordered pick up for 3 kinds of sashimi salmon, tuna and red snapper, you get what you paid for. Fish is not of the best quality and thinly cut. The shrimp tempura is okay but with very little tempura dipping sauce.

Sushi items chicken wings were ok but everything else on their very limited menu was kinda gross. Nothing was hot or fresh, it all came out doused with this thick bottled teriyaki sauce or siracha mayo. We told the waiter who we had to constantly flag down that there was a sesame allergy and again and again delivered sesame to the table. Service was atrocious to the point that we had to ask them to come clear off the emply plates. The restaurant is run down and it was a huge disappointment. Do not recommend.
