Smokin Billy's B-q - Warrenton

Absolutely lovely—it’s rare that the beans can leave me that impressed, but wow everything on this menu was great. The Mac and cheese was probably the weakest of the sides, so just get extra beans instead!

I ate at Maurice's in South Carolina, Gates in Missouri and Los Angeles, Chris Pitts, Love's and Tony Roma's to name just a few places. In Los Angeles, the VERY BEST place to get BBQ was over on Crenshaw Adams, on a temple called Leon's, which has long gone. I thought I'd never find another place that could be the same, let alone the best Leon's Ribs. Damn, if that's the best BBQ, by far. This can be a big and brave statement, but if you are on HWY 29, between Gainesville and the Warrenton bypass, you will not find this place earlier. The pulled pig just melts in your mouth!!!

The winter soup is perhaps the best comforter I ever had. The regular annual round is always great and the brisket is really dying. Nothing beautiful here, it's a real street spot, but I doubt you'll find everything to complain.

I had a few navy buddies and her wives last night considered a mini reunion. Smokin Billy hooked us with Brisket, pork and all the sides. Great meal. I have reviews from all of us. Thank you!
