Havana Cuban Cuisine - Walnut Creek

First of all the service was very good. We had a party of 10 so we had a good variety of dishes. The Chimichirri steak was excellent. We had the empanadas, chicken wings, grilled shrimp and the Puerto Cubano dish which was also very tasty. The two dishes of beef and paella was kind of dry and the paella was very bland. I had an excellent one at La Catelana in San Jose. Overall it was very good. My only pet peeve is our bill was well over $550 and there's an automatic 20% tip added to the bill. I don't have a problem with that but when you tax the 20% on also the sales tax, that's not right. It should be only on the sub total amount. So our tax was $57. Times that by 20% which approximately comes to $11.40. Is that additional money going to be sent to the city/state? Hmmm, I wonder.

The beef empanadas are getting smaller and smaller. The beef filing is approximately 1 tablespoon maybe , and a lot of dough. You get 3 very very small empanadas for $16.00 What is going on here. Delivery from doordas total was $25.00 including $2.00 tip. It is not worth it anymore.

The best restaurant for date night. I definitely recommend getting a reservation than just showing up. It's relatively easy to get one if you book In advanced. The cocktails are delicious and strong. They can also make any cocktails into a mocktail (I'm pregnant). It's nice we can keep up with our date nights and have a fancy drink. The food is delicious... probably one of the best in downtown. You can get a great meal off their appetizer menu which we tend to do. Get the empanadas! Staff is always friendly and attentive. They are quick in service as well.

I came here with some girlfriends on a Saturday afternoon with reservations. This place was packed and I can see why! The service was fantastic, the food was also really good and the drinks were too. The apps we ordered were the croquettes (5pcs), those were yummy it reminded me of ham and cheese hot pockets in the best way possible. We also ordered the wings (6pcs) which were delicious! I would definitely order those again the sauce was so flavorful and the wings were still crispy. The steak and eggs came with yucca fries and chimichurri sauce and it was so yummy! I do feel like the portion size was small : The chicken and waffles were so good and nicely balanced, I love the habanero butter that it came with too. The star of the table was definitely the plantain French toast! The toast was cooked and it almost tasted like caramel yummmm! We opted for the bottomless mojitos, the guava flavor was definitely the way to go! I do see myself coming back here again whether it be for brunch, lunch, or dinner. It is super cute and cozy inside!

I thought it was ok . Comfy seating, nice ambience, good service but good is just ok. Seafood Paella it's ok. Shrimp is super fresh and tasty, clams are ok, but we there is one piece of bad mussel. The rice was also slightly undercooked and a tad raw in the middle. Flavor is ok to good. Twice fried plantain was just ok typically I like the sweetness and the slight chew of fried plantains, but this one is dry and seem like it's fried more than twice. : Chicken wing is good. Sauce is delicious Peace Mojito is excellent! Overall a good experience but the food left me much to desire for. And given the price point, it's an overall an ok
