Matteo's Osteria - Wailea

I love this restaurant. We always visit while on Maui.

It was our first time here and we had high expectations based on the reviews. I had the bolognese and my husband had the lasagna. My dish lacked seasoning and I had to ask for parmesean cheese. The lasagna was just o.k. Service was good and busboys were attentive. Won't be back.

We had been told how wonderful MATTEO’S is, so we went. In our opinion it was overpriced. Service was good, food was good, but not excellent. We had to ask for grated Parmesan, it was delivered in a small bowl, not freshly grated over our plates. The restaurant is beautiful but the noise level was pretty high, both inside and out.I had my eye on the Gnocchi they show when you’re making reservations. It’s not on the menu! Most menu items included seafood. 2 of us are allergic to seafood. Expensive disappointment.

Very disappointed in our recent visit. This was our third time at Matteo’s and had always been impressed in the past and felt the food/experience was worthy of high prices. Upon arriving last night, we were informed we were in for a special treat as Matteo was in the kitchen and would be preparing our entrees. The meal started out great with fantastic appetizer Parma) and salad Caprese). Unfortunately, things went downhill after that. My husband ordered Arrabiata pasta with chicken and I ordered chicken parmigiana $40+ each). The Arrabiata was both a small portion and extremely average. My chicken was so hard the waiter brought me a steak knife when he saw I had a hard time cutting the chicken. In addition to food issues, my husband had to ask for a refill on his soda multiple times before it finally arrived at the end of the meal. The evening finished with two cappuccinos that were served lukewarm. Sadly the food and service did not meet the $225 w/ tip) price tag. We may try Matteo’s again in the future to see if we just had an off night, but not anytime soon.

Both the service and food was fantastic. Kyana did a fantastic job. Fresh homemade pasta was super good!
