Though server was polite, friendly, and accommodating, servers need to be trained on types of tea, approximate amount of caffeine, and the fact that tea leaves should be steeped for at least 3-4minutes before drinking for full taste. Pouring hot water over a sieve containing some leaves is not correct tea preparation. The leaves should be in a pot, covered with water of correct temperature for type of tea, permitted to steep a few minutes, and then the liquid poured into a cup with a sieve over the rim of cup. The person in charge of training should read about the processes or go to China, London, Van Couver, DC's Willard or Hay-Adams Hotels to learn how to present an afternoon tea. The lemon curd, jam, and whipped cream should have a small utensil for each to serve. The real gem is your pastry chef. The pastries were outstanding! Sandwiches were OK, except the use of Virginia Ham. Too much salt, is not appreciated by most people. Ham has enough, without going to the extreme of over-salted Virginia ham. More than 1500mg-2000mg of salt is considered a health hazard my most of medical professionals. The pianist was a little louder than necessary, but very enjoyable.

Amazing service, very welcoming! I wish we could try multiple teas, but aside from that, everything was sensational! The treats were so so tasty! Great selection!

The Raleigh was a very nice touch to end our 5 -days in Virginia Beach. Our waitress was very nice and surprised us with a small cake for our anniversary. The violinist was great,music of past and present. The high tea was a special treat! Thank you Raleigh Room!

Event cancelled, still waiting on refund. Still receiving text messages emails with event reminders. This just added to the disappointment that the event was canceled!

Beyond miniature scones, tea leaves everywhere and they barely even get wet. There’s no steeping here. The water is poured over an overstuffed strainer sitting on top of the cup. Makes zero sense. Serve skim milk instead of half and half, much less, cream. So little clotted cream, forgot it was even on the table. No substitutions permitted with the tea sandwiches. What a waste to toss so many out from what we didn’t eat. Overall, a horrible experience. We do afternoon tea everywhere we go! This was our most disappointing one, hands down.
