Bidra med feedbackVila Real was a hunger-imposed stop on our your of the Douro Valley and Mateus. We picked Nova Pompeia randomly based on the fact that there was a lively crowd of locals sitting outside. We both picked the fish day special which consisted of fried 'petinga ' with beans and rice. It was excellent. Not haute cuisine of course but tasting and rewarding and we weren 't hoping for anything this good. Service was courteous, efficient and super fast. If you 're in Vila Real and need to grab a bite this option should be on your radar screen.
Hi. This is my favorite place to have a nice coffee and taste their delicious cakes only they can offer in town. Among n=many others, I love the so called English Cake which includes french pastry and their wonderful filling cream...mniam... The coffee can be of many types but all are excelent. I recommend everybody for a visit.
Familiar place with good price quality ratio. Cakes look delicious but not suited for a typical Portuguese food
Visited Vila Real as part of a trip to the Douro Valley and had lunch at Nova Pompeia. Menus in various languages including English. We had an omelette, fries and salad but wished we had chosen one of their specials which inluded octopus or rib of veal, both looked fabulous! The person who served us was attentive and recommended us a great local wine. A great local venue, particularly for visitors who cannot speak Portuguese.
Service was freindly food was excellent and the cakes were divine great value for your money. Owners are ex South Africans so english is no problem, hope to come back some time keep it up Guys
