Pizzaria Restaurante Dom Gancho

Amazing staff, great food, quite cheap for the quality. If I had to pay double the price to eat here I would. Never left a food review before but this restaurant is just something else. If you re feeling like you should come here, pack your things right now and come.

I had been there in 2018 and thought it was very good. However, when I came back in 2019/september, I could hardly recognize the place. service was bad, food was merely OK. I was informed they no longer served Codfish, which I had eaten on previous occasions, so it is just another pizza place, nothing special. Save your money.

We found this restaurant on Tripadvisor and went because of the reviews, and we were not disappointed. In fact it exceeded our expectations. Cozy atmosphere, and Victor took care of us. We loved him immediately. He knows how to make you feel special from the wine recommendations to the dessert, and the surprise complimentary port. spoiler alert, sorry). Pizza was great, pasta fair, and the mozzarella garlic bread was awesome! Good dessert options we had the cookie cake, delicious. We would return again and again if we could! Had a lovely meal here last night. Would never have found this place without Trip Advisor. Was able to book a table online, always a bonus. Myself, my husband and daughter (13) had pasta dishes and my son (10). had a pizza. They were all a good size, indeed my son was too full for pudding! We all enjoyed our main courses, my rigatoni dish in particular was really tasty. My son wanted a pepperoni pizza without onions so the waiter who was very helpful and attentive throughout offered him a substitute ingredient. Then came our deserts. My word they were yummy. I had a beautifully creamy panna cotta and my husband and daughter both had the chocolate mousse which they loved. My daughter wanted seconds! At the end of the meal our waiter brought my husband and I a complimentary glass of port each which was a lovely way to finish off the meal. Great restaurant, would highly recommend.

We liked our meals at D Ganche. My husband and I ordered pizzas, the waiter let me sub out a topping I didn't like for one I did. Pizzas were good, only improvement would be the dough. My daughter ordered pasta and she enjoyed it. We also had dessert, mine was Panna Cotta and my husband and daughter had chocolate mousse. My panna cotta was the best. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Thank you!
