We had dinner at Expedit last night. It was so for the best culinary experience in Vienna. The restaurant decoration is somehow industrial, simple but fresh and at night with lighting really very cozy. Tables are good for the number of PAX seats on...this. The restaurant is quite spacious and not crowded with tables. The kitchen is open and allows some tables to see the action. Chef is an Italian mom and you can taste it! We had 2 antipasti, octopus salad with artichokes and potatoes and Vitello Tonnato. The calfs with tuna sauce was one of the best I've ever had, the octopus salad was also lovely. Then we had the different pasta meals, farfalle with calfsraupe, safron risotto with shrimp and ravioli with pumpkin cheese filling, gmolata and sage butter. The veil ragout in farewell was as tender as possible, cooked and concentrated probably over hours to reach this stage. The Courgette cubes there were still crunchy. A fantastic taste, any ingredient could be identified. The Risotto was well balanced, the Safron was not overpowered as it is so easy to do. The rice was al dente and all very well seasoned. The prawns fresh and well cooked, not a hint of chewiness in them. The ravioli were a delight with the contrast of the sweet pumpkin filling and the very aromatic gemolata above. The sage butter was subtle and supplemented the pasta that was homemade and very thin. We had no main courses as we did not know how to eat a complete menu with antipasti, primo piatti, secondo piatti and dolce. We shared a panna otto with fruit sauce that was really a fantastic end and climax of dinner. We had the Itynera Primitivo Salento Barrique IGT 2014, which was dark, full of fruit and aroma and went so well with dinner. I love primitivo and enjoyed this to the fullest as in Hong Kong it is hard to get a good one like this. The service was very fast and very friendly. We have already reserved for the coming Thursday to taste other dishes of the chaning menue. Prices are not a budget, but also not a high end. And you get what you pay in the best sense. After a very bad New Year's Gift Experience, this visit compensates well. Very recommended.
Found the name in a guide and went for a quiet dinner for two. Good value, excellent Italian cuisine. Great service and beautiful atmosphere. Very recommended.
Expedit is one of my favourite restaurants in Vienna. Whenever you eat there, it's always really great. Whether it be the fish, the pasta, or the gorgeous antipasto I have never been disappointed. I particularly recommend the panna cotta for desert. The excellent food is...accompanied by an expansive wine list to suit every pallet. I would quite happily eat there every night of the year.
Very good quality of food, although the soup was too salty Excellent service, and very quiet terrace Perfect when you dont want to eat anymore a Wienerschnitzler..!
