Bidra med feedbackMy friend and I did a tasting of a menu for her birthday party, and the food was really good. Gift from the kitchen of a creamy mushroom soup was a sensation, as was the trout (not quite sure about the chorizo chips) and a grilled cauliflower dish that was wonderful to the last bite. We tried a selection of Artner wines; loved the chardonnay (quite buttery, but not overly so) and the sauvignon blanc was a winner with my friend. The dessert of chocolate mousse with coffee ice-cream and a sherry gelee with sweet olive chips (yes! they worked!) was great but I felt the gelee was not quite soft enough to fit with the other textures. A wonderful meal, am so glad I met this new place of food happiness.
This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel as a fabulous steakhouse and I'm sure it is but we didn't enjoy our Meal, Service or the bill. Firstly when we walked in the waiter was very friendly offered us drinks we said we would wait and if we could have a jug of water he then brought us a basket of bread and asked us to try it. All seemed good so far. I ordered a ribeye cooked medium and my friend ordered the lamb we then asked to try a glass of house red, it was nice so we said leave the bottle. We waited about 40min for our main course to come out and bare in mind it was a Monday night and there was only 4 other people in the restaurant. I got my steak which was a little small for a 12 oz and my friend got his lamb which was so miserable you would be starving after it. I had asked for the steak cooked medium it was rare and tough so I sent it back and asked for it cooked medium I then waited another 15 min for it to come back and at this stage the sides were cold and the waiter was less than friendly anyway we had one desert and asked for the bill. €148.00 for 2 main courses 2 sides ,1 desert and a bottle of house red at €48.00 We paid the bill and didn't give a tip as the service was only ok but the bill was expensive. The waiter was disgusted and not at all friendly just rude after that. Couldn't wait to get out of the restaurant and won't be back to it ever again!!
We stumbeld across this restaurant. it's pretty cool inside and the menu is great (if you like meat). Service was a little brusque and inattentive, to be honest, but we just adjusted our tip accordingly. Steak was outstandingly well cooked and tasted great. Very tender. Sides were also delicious. Oh and the Cabernet Sauvignon was a great accompaniment
Overall, we had a great time, the restaurant itself is cosy and the member of staff has been extremely supportive and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. In fact the food was very well prepared, but extremely tiny, large plates. It was quite disappointing that we had to wait more than an hour just to get extreme small dishes. Advantage: we shouldn't eat heavy dinners and it's probably recommended to eat light anyways. Not sure if I would return anytime soon.
Dear personnel of Artner auf der Wieden, good service is not defined by artfully presented and highly overpriced plate, it's defined by your courtesy toward a customer. We're two families (4+3) visiting Vienna. Got recommendation for this restaurant at our hotel's front desk due to many other places being closed on Sunday. The place is NOT cheap. Here's the "highlights" of our experience. 1. The soup was extremely over salted. 2. When we started placing the orders we were faced with the fact that many ingredients were out, including veal in veal schnitzel, which made it deer schnitzel instead. 3. Our server refused to split 200 euro bill between two families stating it's against their rules. I understand not wanting to pay extra credit card charges and that this is a common issue here in Vienna in general. But... we're two separate families and the bill is big enough to justify CC fees. We were left with the necessity to go line by line figuring out who ordered what. Once again we've done the same at other restaurants here in Austria, but they were not claiming to be as prestigious as Artner. Anyway... Very disappointed and dissatisfied.
